Constructing artificial traffic fluids by designing cruise controllers

In this paper, we apply a Control Lyapunov Function methodology to design two families of cruise controllers for the two-dimensional movement autonomous vehicles on lane-free roads using bicycle kinematic model. The control functions are based measures energy system with kinetic expressed in ways similar Newtonian or relativistic mechanics. derived feedback laws (cruise controllers) decentralized, as each vehicle determines its input own speed and relative speeds distances from adjacent boundary road. Moreover, corresponding macroscopic models derived, obtaining fluid-like that consist conservation equation momentum pressure viscous terms. Finally, show that, by selecting appropriately parameters laws, can determine physical properties “traffic fluid”, i.e. get free hand create an artificial fluid approximates emerging traffic flow.
